Home on the Range
Crawl Space Residency - June 2008

show statement

Inspired by the contrast between the cushiness of modern culture and arduousness of historical frontier life, Home on the Range presents a view into domestic survival in an unlikely setting as artist Zack Bent collaborates with his wife Gala Bent and their two sons Ezra and Solomon for a week long live-in residency at Crawl Space.

With references to Daniel Boone, leisure camping, and family survival, this body of work draws into question the pioneering spirit of progress both in contemporary life and in art making.
